Holiday Pinnings

An "S" for my stocking which will be stocked with scrumptious surprises.

It's Christmas, Deer.

My stocking holder!

Gothic Church

Amsterdam Ave, Morningside Heights
they are adding to this beautiful structure. It was raining and I thought I would capture it's omnipotence.

New York Buddhist Church- October

Riverside Drive, NY
This imposing figure is very discreet. You can very well go by it without noticing it.

Angeles

Los Angeles County
New found appreciation for the south land

Long Beach Bridge

Long Beach, CA
I fell in love with Long Beach on this last trip to SoCal. Loved it. I could possibly move here if life permits. Great coffee, great culture and setting. This is definitely on my top two California Cities to Live In list.

Memorial Church

MemChu
Many a time I wanted to go in and cry out "SANCTUARY! SANCTUARY!"
Luckily I had enough self control to never go through with this

Kingscote Garden

There are always lotus flowers at Kingscote.
The only thing missing were the friendly carps, ducks, and blue herons.

Birdhouse

Lake Lag is responsible for sparking my love for nature

Cecil Green Archway

Arches along the west wing of Green Library. So nice and inviting.

Lake Lag

Lake Lagunita, Staford University
When I was a freshman living in Roble, this was (mostly) dry.
Now they've allowed water and canoes and mosquitoes fly about.
It was so great to reminisce on the year anniversary of having graduated
Stanford....
I'm mostly going to miss this place because I grew as a person here, made it on my own here.
It holds a special place in my heart.

The next few pictures are going to be of this gorgeous campus. This will be my excuse to visit the university and to simply take it in. I hope you keep in mind my deep, deep love for this place as you browse through the pictures that are to come.

Domaine Chandon

Domaine Chandon, Yountville, CA
Do you see that cute bird on the last rooftop?
Documentation of one of the best weekends of my life.

San Francisco Full Moon

Downtown SF.
I took this picture a couple of years back during Chinese New Year celebrations.
The picture might be grainy, but the moon is so impressive and the
buildings are simply glistening.

Rinconada Park

Urban photography really calls my attention, but Palo Alto isn't exactly the right place to practice that genre of photography. Maybe once in NYC I can practice- I have to get my hands on some old urban photography pro's, though.

Japanese Maples

I like how the branches on these came out blue-ish.
There is nothing like taking shelter under these on a hot afternoon.

Good Skies

Caltrain Station, Redwood City, CA
I missed my train. It was windy and dry, but the sky gave me a break.

Cafe Solo

Did I mention I like coffee?

Port De Barcelona

Barcelona's Port, Spain

Asparagus

First Asparagus of the Year

My favorite food blog, veganyumyum.com, has not been updated for years, but I find myself still browsing the pages for the photographs. So clean, crisp and bright.

I don't have the patience to take photos of my cooking because staging is not my forte. However, when I was cooking up some asparagus, I found their formation irresistibly photogenic.

I absolutely love the art of food. Gastronomical tours of the world are a pipe dream of mine (like the song says "It may be years until the day/my dreams will match up with my pay"). So for now, I stay put and enjoy the occasional beautiful food formation.

Water Tower

Water Tower, Volunteer Park, Seattle, WA
Seattle has *the* best lighting for photographs.

Winter Sunset

Palo Alto Hills
Although this is a grainy picture, it is everything good in my life.
This was sunset one March evening-  the upward turn.

California Train Station

Caltrain Station, Santa Clara, CA
I like how this bench is permanently off center.
Also, this train stop always makes me feel like I'm in the wild west.
Wait for the tumbleweeds...

Stanford Outback

I grew up in the Los Angeles area, so when I would see images of "California" that
depicted green pastures, I thought they were crazy. Now I know what they were talking about.

Palo Alto Nature

Deer Creek Road Palo Alto, CA
This was on a late Spring walk around work. I have beautiful places to escape to when I need a break.

Parking Lot, SPRC Palo Alto, CA
We are blessed with stables behind work, adjacent to our parking lot.
These horses were just posing for me

The picture on Deer Creek was taken today, but the horses posed for me last June or so. The hills indeed are golden here in California :)

San Francisco High Rises

San Francisco
I find that San Francisco is incredibly picturesque- hills give you incredible
angles and weather is always on your side.

Good Balance

I've posted selective pictures from the first six months of living alone and out of college. I have many more pictures that I'm proud of, but they involve family members or they depict my face- things which I don't think are appropriate for this blog.

The hardest part of the last couple of postings was choosing my aesthetic over a good picture. I've taken fortuitous pictures that have great lighting, color and balance, but don't necessarily reflect my taste in photographs. I've also taken great shots of objects that I find aesthetically pleasing, but the picture itself doesn't always come up to the highest standards.

I guess I will figure out a balance of these, but for now, I am picking pictures that reflect pivotal moments that are at times gut-wrenching to remember. Who knew this would be so emotionally draining? (in a good way, of course).

Nob Hill

Grace Cathedral, San Francisco, CA
I went out for lunch in China Town and we ended up on Russian Hill.
I have an undying love for San Fran.

Cirrus Clouds

The Dish, Stanford, CA
January clouds are incredibly impressive- they reminded me of Brazil's statue of Christ the Redeemer

Good Views- Hike

The Dish, Stanford, CA
Favorite place to unwind on weekends. Every corner is picturesque.
I will miss this place the most.

Good Screw Up

University Ave, Palo Alto CA
I went out with high hopes and I ended up crushing them myself.
To top it all off, it started raining on the way to my car. I got this beautiful shot, though.
Although they illuminate the trees that line University Avenue all year round, this was actually taken during Christmas season.
